If you want to really impress your friends, then keep your eye out for the appearance of the 2016 Ford GT supercar expected to be at dealerships including Richmond Ford at some point in 2016. The new GT, just revealed at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, is stunning, to say the least. And, you won’t see a watered-down version of a concept car for this model when it does finally come out. The vehicle that was at the auto show is a preview of the very vehicle that will be in showrooms this coming year.

Engine and Transmission

This rear-wheel drive model features a mid-mounted engine, an aerodynamic body, an EcoBoost V-6 engine and a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine sports two turbochargers and is expected to make over 600 horses. The engine has updated valve train features and an updated direct-injection system for better performance.

Chassis Features

The chassis features a lot of aluminum and carbon fiber to make it lightweight – and to help with fuel economy. The ultra-aerodynamic body and the superb power-to-weight ratio was created by using carbon fiber for the passenger cell and body panels and aluminum front and rear sub-frames. Add active aerodynamics including a deployable rear spoiler and you have a vehicle that is quite fuel efficient.

Cabin Features

The cabin features a narrow profile canopy, doors that swing up, seats that are integrated in the carbon fiber passenger cell and adjustable pedals and steering column to accommodate the fixed seating. You’ll be able to configure the instrument cluster for different driving modes and environments.
